Glasgow Women’s Library and the Suffragette Oak

Vote for the Suffragette Oak!!

23 Librarians - and counting!

Vote for the Oak! Vote for the Oak!

Wendy Kirk of Glasgow Women’s Library was one of the original 23 Librarians. One of GWL’s current campaigns is to promote the Suffragette Oak on Glasgow’s Kelvin Way as European Tree of the Year. The oak was planted by suffrage organisations on 20 April 1918 to commemorate the granting of votes to women and, thanks to GWL, was voted Scotland’s Tree of the Year last autumn. Voting for the European round is open throughout February – if you’d like to vote, you can do so here.
